Twitter launches ‘Happening Now’ to showcase tweets about even is

Twitter has released a new feature called “Happening Now” aimed to make its service more accessible to newcomers by highlighting groups of tweets about a topic, beginning with sports, before expanding to other areas like entertainment and breaking news. If this sounds similar to Twitter’s existing Moments feature….well, it is.

Moments, too, offers a way to learn more about a given timely topic across a number of categories, like Sports, News and Entertainment.
But Twitter Moments are a curated selection of tweets that tell a story, while Happening Now will take users to a dedicated timeline of tweets related to the event at hand. Moments are also often more visual, featuring images and videos, which is why they’ve been likened to Twitter’s version of Snapchat or Instagram’s “Stories.”
In a demo of the new feature posted to the official @Twitter account, there are Happening Now events for MLB, NBA, and NFL games shown at the top of the Twitter timeline. You can swipe horizontally through these events, each depicted with a title (e.g. “NFL Giants vs. Buccaneers”) and an image.
When you tap into a game to see more, the current score appears at the top of a customized timeline containing real-time tweets about the event.
Twitter, of course, already offers ways to tune into live events via its network, including via its live video streams of an event, as well as by following an event’s hashtag – like #wwdc for Apple’s Developer conference, for instance.
Happening Now, though, builds on top of Twitter’s understanding of how to sort tweets associated with an event, like live video. The tweets will display algorithmically in these new custom Happening Now timelines.
What’s interesting about this new implementation is that it’s not entirely hashtag dependent, it seems.

In the brief demo Twitter shared, some tweets did reference hashtags related to the event at hand – the Giants vs. Bucs game – like #Giants, #GiantsFan, #Buccaneers, and #GoBucs. However, other tweets only referenced the match up in plain text, sometimes even vaguely. For instance, one tweet in the stream simply read: “Man oh man I am at the edge of my seat.”

This is not the first (nor likely the last) time Twitter will try to make its service more useful to newcomers who just want to follow topics, not people. Last year, it updated its homepage for logged-out users so they could dive into various categories like News, Sports, Music, Entertainment, and more; plus view Moments and other featured tweets.
It also revamped its Explore section earlier this year to help users find videos, trends, and Moments in a single tab.
Though Happening Now may appeal to newbies who don’t want to create customized lists, track hashtags, or figure out who to follow to follow relevant news on Twitter, it’s also likely to irk longtime Twitter users.
Many today feel like their timelines are being invaded by ever more features they don’t need – whether that’s “While You Were Away” updates, or those that inform you of interesting links and trends Twitter thinks you’d like to know about.
With all these features and algorithmic suggestions, Twitter is losing a bit of its simplicity – ironically, in an effort to be “easier” to use.
Twitter says Happening Now is rolling out on iOS and Android starting today.

SHATAWALE INTERACTS WITH FANS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Charles Nii Armah Mensah popularly know as Shatawale Aka the Dancehall king yesterday took to social media to interact with fans about what they think about the impact he as a musician has made in the music industry in Ghana and the world as a whole .

The interactive section between Shatawale and his fans on facebook got thousands of people contributing and asking Shatawale lots of questions , where as some were criticizing him others also praised him for his hard work and how far He has taken Ghana music.

This was some of the questions and contributions some fans made during the interactive facebook section with Shata wale and fans

The musician is known to have inspired many ghetto youth to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams and aspirations  and no wonder he has the largest fan base in Ghana.

Shatawale is so far one of the few musicians in Ghana who always gets in touch with his fans and give them what they desire and we think is a good move and that,  most Artiste should emulate that because its a good way of getting closer to your fans and also increasing your fan base.

We wish Shatawale all the best in his upcoming projects and we pray for more life for him

Apple Is Losing Its Cool Factor, And That's A Problem If It Wants To Break Into TV

Apple spent much of the 2000s riding high on a wave of cool. Whether it was MP3 players, smartphones, tablets or laptops, Apple was the brand that everyone wanted, and anything else seemed like the “sensible” (read: uncool) pair of sneakers your parents forced you wear in sixth grade. (Growing up in New York in the '70s, we used to call them “skips.”)

This wasn’t entirely random. Apple’s strategy was fairly straightforward: find a nascent industry where the existing products were functional but unsexy, designed by engineers for people with a high degree of tech savvy. Then Apple would come in with a product with fresh design and an elegant, intuitive interface and sell it for a premium price, thus creating the “it” product of the moment. It was a logical enough plan, and it worked brilliantly for many years.

But recently, Apple’s strategy has been coming up short. That’s because the companies they are seeking to displace aren’t the pushovers their previous competitors have been.

Apple’s first “failure to dominate” came with Apple Music, their streaming music service. After years of users downloading (and thus owning) music via iTunes, Apple attempted to introduce their own streaming service. Only this time, they likely got in too late. Services like Pandora and (especially) Spotify had already grabbed the popular imagination, and their products were well designed and well liked. Apple Music was neither of those things and it did not provide users with anything that looked like an improvement or reason to switch from the platforms they were already using. One of its key selling points—the ability to import your iTunes library—was lost on millennials and Gen Zs, most of whom didn’t own any music to begin with.

That gap is reflected in current adoption numbers, with millennials preferring Spotify to Apple Music 47% to 14%. And though Spotify may still be struggling to turn a profit while Apple sits on a quarter-trillion dollar war chest, they have something far more valuable—that cool factor. Apple is your parents' music service, clunky and more than a bit dorky. Spotify and Pandora are the hip services that younger listeners want.

A STUDENT FROM IVORY COAST BECAME A MILLIONAIRE IN 1 MOMENT

Recently, news appeared about the incredible win in the bookmaker “Mostbet”. The lucky winner was a student from Szeged, Ivory Coast. With just 10$, he managed to win over 200,000$, which is incredible result! His bet was made on multiple events, which included 13 matches with odds of 22968.01, which allowed him to receive such an incredible sum of money! We were able to take an exclusive interview with him.

- Hello. Please tell us about yourself.
Hi, I am just an average teenager, a student. I am unemployed and my parents help me with money, or rather used to help me.
- When did you start to bet on sports and how?
One day I came across advertising for MostBet, they had excellent bonus on 1st deposit. I had nothing to lose, and I decided to try betting.
- Interesting. Please tell us more: How did you manger to win so much money?
In fact, everything is simple. It can be anyone, without exception! We just need to adhere to the main rules:
1. Pick a correct bookmaker, I heard of many cases when people won much greater sums of money than I did, but because they played with a wrong bookie they were deprived of their winnings. Therefore, I believe that this is the most important factor! Personally, I made a choice in favor of the Mostbet bookmaker. They have best odds on the market and really cool bonuses.
2. Choose a sport you understand
3. Make bets and you will definitely win!
if you want to ask me any questions about betting,
- Thank you very much for the interview!

Bukom Banku suffers humiliating defeat in cruiserweight bout

Former WBO Africa Cruiserweight champion, Brimah Kamoko, known commonly as Bukom Banku suffered a humiliating defeat to former Ghana Amateur boxing team captain, Bastie Samir in the cruiserweight non-title bout held at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra on Saturday night.

Bukom Banku, who promised to knock out Bastie in the 6th Round, struggled to find his feet from the 3rd Round after enduring tough punches from his opponent.

In what turned out to be the first loss in his professional career, Bukom Banku was forced by Bastie to taste the floor in the 3rd Round after a heavy blow served to his [Bukom Banku] face.

A visibly fatigued Bukom Banku struggled to complete the subsequent rounds as Bastie’s jabs proved to have what it takes to draw the remaining energy out of him.
He succumbed in the 7th Round after another punch landed him on the floor, leaving the referee with no option than to end the bout.

Administrator at Effia Nkwanta Hospital kills himself over bad marriage

A young man has broken the hearts of family and friends including strangers, after he killed himself over bad relationship.
Before his sad death, Kofi Shanti Boafo was a system administrator at Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region.

Few details about him according to Facebook indicate that he Studied Information Communication and Technology at Presbyterian University College.

Prior to his sad death, he posted a long notice on his Facebook page apologizing to family and friends for the loss his demise was going to cause them.
In the sad Facebook post, Kofi Shanti Boafo specifically accused his wife, Prasad Deevi of consistently causing him pains that he could not bear anymore.
He said, “I put you before almost anything and anyone else in my life. You knew I loved you, yet you did nothing about it. All I had was hope. You were so important to me. It is extremely difficult writing these words in the past tense. I once thought you would be in my life forever.

“I can’t let you hurt me any longer. Life is too short to repeatedly get your heart broken by the same person without doing anything to fix it. Everyone deserves more than that. I need to do what is best for me. The only way to fix it is by saying goodbye.”
Read the full suicide note below:

October 14 at 6:09am ·
Dear All, You have to know that you will not be seeing me any more, and perhaps the knowledge is better than the months of uncertainty which I have been through.
There are one or two things which I should like you to know, and which I have been too shy to let you know in person.
Firstly, let me say how splendid you both have been during this terrible "war". Neither of you have shown how hard things must have been, and when peace comes this will serve to knit the family together as it should always have been knit.
As a family, we are terribly afraid of showing our feelings, but my life has uncovered unsuspected layers of affection beneath the crust of gentlemanly reserve.
Secondly, I would like to thank you all for what you have done for me personally. Nothing has been too much trouble, and I have appreciated this to the full, even if I have been unable to show it.
Finally, a word of comfort. You both know how I have gone through this life, but it has, however, done this for me. It has shown me new realms where man is free from earthly restrictions and conventions; where he can be himself playing hide and seek with the clouds, or watching a strangely silent world beneath, rolling quietly on, touched only by vague unsubstantial shadows moving placidly but unrelenting across its surface.
So please don't pity me for the price I have had to pay for this experience. This price is incalculable, but it may just as well be incalculably small as incalculably large, so why worry?
And to Dad and Mum
If you get this message or reading this, then you should know I won't be coming home. I am up in the stars now looking down on you making sure that you are happy as you wanted.
I am sorry for all the times I have been a pain but I know the good times outweighed the bad tenfold. Thank you for being the best parents anyone could ever have wished for. You gave me everything I could ever have wanted and more but not the marriage that I wanted.
You have both gotten long lives ahead of you yet, so make sure you make use of every second you have, because sitting here writing this now I know just how precious time is.
Tell the rest of the family I was thinking of them and make sure they take care.
Forgiveness is something everybody deserves because one day, it may be too late.
Remember that every time you are thinking of me, I am thinking of you, too. Look after yourselves and not to think of my children forget about them.
And to the love of my life Deevi
I cannot seem to say these words out loud. To me, saying goodbye has always seemed so final. Life is crazy like that. People come in and out of your life; neither one is ever expected. I have found, however, that some people will always come back to you. The ones meant to be in your life will return somewhere down the road. Unfortunately, I do not believe you will ever return. That is why I have to say goodbye.
Our relationship, like so many others, had its extreme ups and downs. I tried to focus on the ups, while relentlessly making excuses for you for the downs. “He’s just busy” and “He treats everyone like that” became the norm. I put you before almost anything and anyone else in my life. You knew I loved you, yet you did nothing about it. All I had was hope. You were so important to me. It is extremely difficult writing these words in the past tense. I once thought you would be in my life forever.
I can’t let you hurt me any longer. Life is too short to repeatedly get your heart broken by the same person without doing anything to fix it. Everyone deserves more than that. I need to do what is best for me. The only way to fix it is by saying goodbye.
I know this is going to be a long and difficult journey, but it is something I must do. My heart is so full of you. Waking up every morning without you in my life will get a little easier every day until you are nothing but a memory to me. I’m glad we have few same friends so your name won’t get brought up in conversation. It is time to move on. I can erase you from my life, but the memories will remain forever.
I may have lost someone that didn’t love me, but you lost someone that truly loved you.
This is my goodbye
There is only one thing to add. Good luck to you all
Shanti writes to you all.
Am much grateful and appreciate your time and effort to me.

Davido’s friend, DJ Olu found dead, days after Tagbo’s demise

Davido, Nigerian music superstar has lost another friend, DJ Olu.

He broke the news on his Instagram handle Saturday night.

Olu was reportedly found dead in his car. The deceased was billionaire Dapo Abiodun’s son.
His passing occurred just days after the death of another crew member, Tagbo.

Davido had on his snapchat page denied involvement in Tagbo’s demise.

His reaction followed an allegation by former actress, Caroline Danjuma, who accused the artiste of negligence.

“People are just wicked this what I get for treating everyone like my brother”, Davido wrote.
“I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of my friend Tagbo. First and foremost my sincere condolences and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

“I’ve been in this position before multiple times and also of recent.

“But it is also disappointing that false information and complete lies have been put out there using my name as usual. Out of total respect for Tagbo and his family I’ll not discuss this matter further for now.”

PICTURES::Deadly wildfires ravage California’s wine country

Fueled by dry brush and timber, low humidity and, at times, hurricane-force winds, wildfires continue to rush through the forests and over the rolling hills of Northern California’s picturesque landscape.
With alarming speed, the inferno has reduced hundreds of homes to embers and forced thousands of Californians to flee to safety. Over one 12-hour period since the blazes began — more than a dozen of them — they burned 20,000 acres, a rate of about a football field every 3 seconds.
The deadly fires have also consumed some of the popular wineries and vineyards in Napa and Sonoma counties, but concerns for wine country — one of the region’s most important economic engines — are secondary at best as beleaguered first responders scramble through and above the fires in search of those trapped. Many residents risked the blaze in hopes of saving their properties with garden hoses and buckets of water.
As one Napa Valley winemaker put it, “Wine doesn’t matter; people matter.”

Students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) are protesting against the siting of a SEL filling station behind their school and have vowed to close it down on their own if prompt measures are not taken to close it.
“We the Students’ Representative Council of the UPSA, are unequivocally protesting against the siting and operation of the fuel station in question, which is too close to the University community,” the statement said.
It noted that the SEL fuel station is 5 meters behind a mosque and 3 meters adjacent to a 3000-seater capacity auditorium all under construction for the school.
In the wake of gas/fuel explosions and fire outbreaks, it feared the lives of the nearly 3000 students who use the school’s walkway 3 meters away from the fuel station are in danger.
The Environmental Protection Agency EPA, requires fuel service stations to cite fuel pumps at a minimum of 30 meters away from adjoining residential buildings.
But addressing a press conference yesterday, the student leaders accused the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of failing to hold the owners of the Strategic Energy Limited (SEL) to this requirement.
“Regrettably, the EPA has still not responded to the school’s request [why the school was exempted from stakeholder consultations with residents in the area].
Together with other student bodies like the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS) , among others, they threatened to close down the facility on their own, if their calls for it to be decommissioned fall on deaf ears.
“We are sending this strong signal today that if measures are not taken to close down the fuel station, the leadership will organize the students to picket at the EPA, NPA and the La-Nkwantanan Madina Municipality. We will also embark on several demonstrations to register our protests until the various authorities at the EPA and NPA take the necessary action to save our lives. We may be forced to defend ourselves by closing down the fuel station on our own” Sydney Quartey the SRC President warned.
But speaking to Citi News the Managing Director of Strategic Energy Limited (SEL) Johnny Blagogee argued that he has not broken any regulations adding the facility meets all international safety regulations.

Dr Gyampo talks about the Atomic junction Gas explosion

Dr. Ransford Gyampo is a Research Fellow at the Governance Unit of the Institute of Economic Affairs.
He is also the Coordinator of the Institute of Economic Affairs-Ghana Political Parties Programme (IEA-GPPP) – a programme that brings together the four main Political Parties with representation in Ghana’s Parliament to discuss issues of national importance in an a-political manner and to propose practical solutions to them.
His research interest lies in the area of Governance, Democracy, Human Rights and Development.

And this was his reactions to the Atomic Gas explosion which happened yesterday.
He said and i quote"
Yesterday, I drove to the mountains to visit some Chiefs who are my friends and to wish them well as they were celebrating their festival.
On my return back, I started receiving calls about the explosion from well wishers. I actually drove closer to the scene to watch what was happening.

As I watched the event and pandemonium I realized that people were running without knowing where they were going.
Many people came out of their homes and started fleeing. Watching them closely I noticed something amazing.
None of them carried a television or a radio or a suitcase of clothes. All these things were useless to them. All that mattered was their lives.
Their  homes and all their property were all of a sudden USELESS!
No one liked atomic Junction fire. Surely no one will like hell fire.

Indeed. The only thing of any value is a soul. At the end of it all, when things get critical, every soul wants to be saved.
Guys, our "tobey tobey" won't be needed again at one point. I actually saw how vehicles were running over human beings who were running for their lives.
I actually saw a woman who got out of her car and left her kids in it. She did this impulsively without knowing what she had done to her kids.
Politics and insults and all those we do, won't matter one day.
Indeed, the world would end one day. How prepared are we? May God be our helper
